Creating Opening Balances Guide

1) Create a New Journal Voucher 

In the Journal Vouchers section, click the "" button located at left side of the screen. This will open a new window where you can input the details for the new journal voucher.

2) Enter Journal Voucher details

Fill in the necessary fields for the new journal voucher, such as the voucher date, description, and any other required information. Ensure that you provide a clear and concise description to easily identify the purpose of the journal voucher.

3) Add details to transaction
To create the opening balance
, you need to add the account entries (transactions) for the journal voucher.

In this row, input the details for the account you want to create the opening balance


a) DR/CR Account: Enter the account number for the account you want to create the opening balance either by DR or CR side.

b) From opposite side select account “99999” for the Open Balance Account.

c) DescriptionProvide a brief description of the entry (e.g., "Opening Balance for Account XYZ")

4) Add additional Open Balance Account entry

Next, if you need to add one more Open Balance Account entry. Click on the "+" button to create a new row in the entries table. And repeat the process used in Step 5.

5) Save and post the Journal Voucher 

Once you have completed entering the account entries, review the information for accuracy. If everything is correct, click the "Save" button to save the journal voucher, and then click "Post" to finalize and record the opening balances.
